Too much of the time, sure; that’s easy to prove. All of the time? Nah; ditto. How much? I really wish I knew.
The solution: get rid of sovereign impunity. Let governments and their agents be financially liable for the harm they do.
And who is going to want to do those jobs without sovereign immunity?
People who are more “careful” than the ones who are doing the job now?
I agree with you Michael, but if you ask me sovereign immunity is way too vast. Seems to me that the equation needs to be rebalanced.
Mark, I am just thankful you have taken up the banner of Ted Stevens. This man has been wrongly maligned by overzealous prosecutors who are just jealous because he got such a good deal on home renovations. Aside from Al Gore, no one else has done more to invent and advance the internet. I am so glad that you recognize this!
In an alternate narrative, a corrupt politician walks because of corrupt prosecutors. What’s not to like about that story?
